What is intangible ?

Vision (Personal) Sequel 3
To have or not have a Vision: a fork in the road of your life

Vision, with its tremendous power, leads us in the direction we have chosen. (For details, please visit Archives 05, 06 Vision/Personal)

But we must keep in mind that Vision is an “intangible value”, an “abstract notion”. You cannot pick up the likes of “reassurance and security”, “freedom”, “healthy life” and “spontaneity” and hold them in your hand.

We need concrete aims to get nearer to a particular Vision. The more concrete the Vision, the easier it is to select what measures are necessary and take action. Even if we seek a Vision, it might end up being pie in the sky. So how should we proceed?

Allow me to quote from a key section of my book:

As already explained, Vision is the absolute standard of value for yourself and your enterprise. Since it is an unwavering commitment, it is primed to be an energy-emitting starting point for all your actions.

Please understand, Vision observes a certain rule in the course of energy flows. I call it the “Energy Circle”.

It turns clockwise: Vision>goal>means>action>results. If each step is not connected reasonably, it is difficult to obtain the desired results. Everything remains ambiguous and lacking coherence, and you end up running around in circles.

For the next step, please set a “goal” as concrete as possible. Through this process, your Vision will begin to take shape in an embryonic form visible to people’s eyes.

The process of rationally connecting Vision with goals I would like to call “Rationality of Value”.

All you have to do next is to take all necessary measures to achieve the goals. Are the means rationally selected? You need to verify the “Rationality of Value” meticulously.

As for the remainder, take action. That is all.
If you do your best, thriving on the energy supplied by Vision, you can get optimum results. If not, however, you need to look back and review the link between goals and results once more.
(See “Intangibles change your company”, PHP Publishing).

This is the way I advocate acquiring a Vision. Please do not forget to turn the energy clockwise, slowly but steadily. A high-pressure weather system does the same thing (in the Northern Hemisphere). The Lamas in Tibetan Buddhism are known to have the habit of following a clockwise path when visiting neighbors.
They might be trying to absorb “Qi” from Nature that seems to have great Providence for directing Energy in a certain way.

Living in the 21st century we tend to pursue results in isolation, without clear goals and without taking proper measures. Individuals, organizations and society turn energy anticlockwise, without exception. Is it not about time for us all to stop and think as we search for the right direction for the human race to take?
